[IMPORTANT] Request for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Setup for keio.jp Login and Change of Deadline
As previously announced, the setup of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) (*1) is becoming mandatory. However, considering the impact on the academic calendar for the 2026 school year, we have decided to move forward the implementation schedule for some groups. The specific dates are as follows:
We apologize for the sudden change and any inconvenience this may cause.
If MFA is not configured, it will affect your ability to access classes and complete academic procedures. Since MFA setup is already available, please cooperate by completing the setup as soon as possible, without waiting for the mandatory deadline.

Until the mandatory MFA implementation date, you may use MFA voluntarily during this preparation and setup period.
Additionally, users who have not yet configured Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will see a screen prompting them to set it up (see figure). Please take note of the following:
Screen (1) indicates the authentication factors that are mandatory for MFA registration. You can temporarily skip the registration by clicking "Remind me later," but please ensure you complete the setup by the mandatory deadline. Once the setup is complete, screens (1) and (2) will no longer be displayed.
Screen (2) will appear following screen (1). This screen displays additional authentication factors that are recommended for registration. You can skip this by clicking "Continue." Once the mandatory factors in (1) are registered, screen (2) will also no longer be displayed.
When you register authentication factors through (1) and (2), MFA will not be activated unless you select the setting to "Enable" multi-factor authentication (prior to the mandatory deadline). Once the deadline has passed, MFA will be automatically enabled for all registered factors, regardless of whether the "Enable" setting was manually selected.
How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Faculty and Students
Please check the following page:
We strongly recommend setting up "SMS/Voice Call Authentication" on your personal smartphone or mobile phone first.
If you have this configured, the need to visit a KIC office for an MFA reset due to device changes, malfunctions, or setup errors will be significantly reduced (a home or office landline can also be used for this). Please register at least one backup method as insurance for emergencies.
After that, please register factors that support "passwordless authentication," such as "Passkeys" or "Okta FastPass." Passwordless authentication is more secure and reliable than traditional password authentication.
